The interconnectedness of the Indian Ocean facilitated extensive exchange before the arrival of Europeans. We regularly discuss trade in spices and textiles and the spread of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. Technology also spread. We sometimes discuss navigational technology, such as the compass, but what about other types of technology?
